Hairstory

Everyone has a hair story.

Maybe you've been coloring your hair for twenty years and loathe the dryness that's resulted. If your hair is straight and thin, you may lust after voluminous curls that bounce with every step. Perhaps your dandruff drives you up a wall.

Here's a challenge: can you name something you love about your hair?

Hairstory wants you to start a new chapter—and it begins with you falling in love with your hair. Not only does Hairstory eliminate harmful detergents from your hair care regimen, their innovative products and platform are flipping the script on how beauty brands communicate with consumers.

At Hairstory, we want you to take care of your hair because you love it, not because you want it to be different. Will you join us?

About Hair Story

Hairstory's claim to fame is it's coveted New Wash, which aims to replace the detergent shampoos of yesteryear.

New Wash uses amphiphilic substances to clean hair. An amphiphile (from the Greek αμφις, amphis: both and φιλíα, philia: love, friendship) is a chemical compound possessing both hydrophilic (water-loving, polar) and lipophilic (fat-loving) properties.

...So, like, what does that mean?

It means that like detergents, the ingredients in New Wash attract oily stuff, but unlike detergent, they have a weak attraction to water. As a result, when you rinse away New Wash, firmly attached oils (the good stuff!) stay put, and the molecules carrying loosely attached oils get swept away.

Why do some oils get left behind, you ask? Put simply, our hair needs some oil to stay soft, healthy, and keep its stunning shine. The best part? New Wash users don't need conditioner!
